Amy Biehl High School Finance Director


The Finance Director is responsible for the financial health of the school and is responsible for all of the duties associated with the finance/accounting office.


230 day/year Contract

Requirements:

  • Must have an AA Degree or higher in accounting
  • Have or be able to obtain a School Business Officials License with the NMPED
  • Knowledge of Fund Accounting
  • Fund accounting software experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, MS Word and other requirements
  • A self-starter who can roll up their sleeves and get the job done
  • Must be able to multi-task and be able to jump from one thing to another with ease
  • Thorough understanding of school law
  • Must be comfortable working around high school students
  • Must pass a background check

Duties Include:

Budgeting

  • Prepare and monitor yearly budget
  • Prepare budget adjustment requests (BAR’s)
  • Work with Executive Director preparing long-range financial planning and budgeting

Financial Statements

  • Understand financial statements
  • Manage the cash flow issues of the school

Accounting

  • Process general journal entries
  • Process payroll
  • Process payroll tax payments
  • Process payroll liability payments
  • Process quarterly payroll reports
  • Prepare all bank reconciliations
  • Bill all grants on a timely basis
  • With the Executive Director, approve purchase orders

Supervisory

  • Supervise the school’s bookkeeper
  • Oversight and approval of accounts payable and cash disbursements
  • Oversight of accounts receivable and cash receipts
  • Oversight of purchase order data entry
  • Oversight of Student Nutrition Program (SNAP, designations, Title 1 reporting)
  • Oversight and applying to NMPED grants

Human Resources

  • Review personnel files for accuracy
  • File documents with NM ERB, NMPSIA
  • Prepare yearly staff contracts
  • Arrange yearly, mandatory full staff trainings with Poms and Associates

Reports: PED

  • Prepare quarterly budget reports
  • Prepare quarterly cash reports
  • Prepare yearly T&E Index Report
  • Prepare yearly Membership Projections
  • Prepare all other reports as required

Reports: Other

  • Prepare monthly financial report and meeting minutes for the ABHS Governing Board
  • Prepare monthly ERB report
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of all grant reports
  • Prepare any reports required for insurance carrier, POMS
  • Prepare other reports as required by the Executive Director

Other Duties

  • Is the school’s Chief Procurement Officer
  • Yearly new hire orientation and training for financial requirements
  • Arrange yearly meeting with outside 403b/Cafeteria Plan administrator
  • Schedule and prepare for the yearly audit
  • Lease Purchase Agreement oversight and reporting
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Professional Development

  • Attend 3 mandatory PED trainings every year

Maintain positive relationships with the following entities:

  • NM Public Education Department
  • NM Public Education Commission
  • Banking Entities
  • Insurance Providers
  • ABHS Staff
  • ABHS Governing Board (attend all meetings and support their training possibilities)
    Outside audit firm
