If your student is feeling sick and has COVID-like symptoms, please keep them at home and call the absence into the attendance line (505-299-9463). If your student feels ill at school, your student will need to go home. The parent/guardian needs to sign them out and pick them up through the front office.
If your student has had an exposure outside of school, monitor them for symptoms. If they have no symptoms, they may come to school. If they have symptoms then keep them home. You may test at home for assurances.
What to do if your child tests positive:
- If they are vaccinated, they should stay home for five days (day zero is the date of the positive test). Please alert the front office and encourage your student to send an email to their teachers letting them know they will be absent and arrange for work to be completed at home.
- If they are unvaccinated, they must stay home for ten days (day zero is the date of the positive test). Please alert the front office and encourage your student to send an email to their teachers letting them know they will be absent and arrange for work to be completed at home.
Protocols and procedures for testing: ABHS will test unvaccinated students who are close contacts at school 3 times following the exposure. ABHS will also test students upon return from 5 day quarantine. If a student returns from quarantine and tests positive, the student will be sent home for another five days of quarantine. The day a student tests positive is day zero. PMG will test those individuals while on campus.
Our goal for student testing on a voluntary basis is 25% of unvaccinated students. 100% of staff that are not vaccinated or boosted will participate in weekly surveillance testing.
