The purpose of the FAB (Families for Amy Biehl High School) is to:
1. Create and maintain close and mutually supportive relationships between parents, teachers and administrators.
2. Build the community of school families through social events open to all at no cost.
3. Raise funds for the school and teachers' classroom needs.
There is something that every parent, grandparent, or guardian can do to benefit the students’ journey through high school. Please come to a FAB meeting and learn more.
For the 2010-2011 school year, the FAB commitments are to:
Organize a welcome to/back to school picnic in September 2010.
Sponsor a significant guest lecturer event for the student body each semester.
Encourage parents, grandparents, etc. to participate in Literary Circles, Project Week, Math, Science, and Humanities Coaching, Front Office help, Sports Programs, Staff Appreciation Day, Fundraisers, and school clean-up days.
Provide a supporting presence for Freshman First Day, Family Night, Prom and other social events, the Martin Luther King Day events, Graduation, Open House, etc.
Provide seed money or a financial contribution for selected student initiatives.
Provide fundraising to meet financial commitments.
Meetings are the first Friday of each month from 6:00-7:15pm. Locations vary, we try to use free meeting spaces where attendees can also purchase food or drink. Location ideas are always appreciated.
Each FAB meeting includes:
1. School update and discussion with the Dean of Students
2. A review of the FAB finances
3. A review and discussion of upcoming events and FAB commitments
