Student Support Center

Who we are is as important as what we are, and no one gets where they’re going alone. Everyone needs community. This can come from families, friends, teachers, peers—people who occupy a common place or share ideas about how things should be. Building a community is important, but it’s also difficult work. At Amy Biehl High School, Student Support takes the form of three full-time Clinical Social Workers who are available to students, families, and staff. While it’s a teacher’s role to tend to students in the classroom, the Student Support Team tends to the well-being of the community and the culture of the school.

It’s significant that the Student Support Center is located in the center of the school, on the middle floor, half-way down the hall. Any student is welcome to visit Student Support, along with any member of the Amy Biehl High School community, for social and emotional support, as well as help dealing with the challenges of classwork.

At Amy Biehl High School, we ask students to take big risks: it’s not just about tolerance, it’s about understanding what makes people different, as well as our common bonds that bring us together. This is not easy work. Student Support helps students negotiate the changes that every Amy Biehl student goes through as part of the learning process.
