Every student at Amy Biehl High School belongs to an Advisory group. This group, led by an Amy Biehl staff member, meets three times a week. The Advisory has many functions: to provide academic support, to pair individual students with an adult who is responsible for overseeing their four-years at the School, to support the School’s mission of community service, and to form a pathway to college. The Advisor is the first contact for families. Parents may contact their student’s advisor at any time.
Additionally, the advisor organizes family meetings, which take place twice a year to assess where students have come from, where they are, and where they’re heading. These family meetings are co-led by the student and their advisor. Through the Advisory, families at Amy Biehl participate in an ongoing conversation about their child’s well being and education.
Most importantly, the role of Advisory is to help a student build relationships that can help to sustain them through changes that take place during their time at Amy Biehl.
